Responsibilities:
Support and Service of Measuring and Controlling MachinesThe role of the Field Service Technician is to provide professional service and support customers by performing field service.
This includes machine installation, commissioning, startup, training end-users, repairs, remote assistance, preventative maintenance, and production support when not traveling.
The Field Service Technician will work within the guidelines and will follow the established procedures.
Carry out regular maintenance and calibration (both electrical and mechanical) Trouble-Shoot in the form of fault finding Carry out repairs and modifications Support for remote operations such as off-site support Regular safeguarding of system data/parameters Support for customer acceptances in Switzerland as well as for the installation and commissioning of the machines at the customer's site Proactive customer advice for possible service or retrofit options Follow prescribed and standard safety regulations Prepare service reports documenting activities Suggest/recommend spare parts / corrective actions Follow prescribed and standard safety regulations Prepare service reports documenting activities Identify and coordinate parts required for repair with the customer and service department Suggest/recommend spare parts / corrective actions, providing written service call reports to service department/customers Travel to North American customer sites Complete drug, alcohol, and safety testing per individual client requirements Travel to headquarters in Switzerland for training and factory acceptance testing of new machinery with customers Keep accurate records of all hours logged, inventory parts used, and services performed Perform other and related duties as assigned, directed, or within the scope of overall responsibilities Qualifications Solid electrical or technical basic training Further training in the field of electrical engineering is an advantage Knowledge of GMP and qualification would be an advantage Confident personality with a competent demeanor Good comprehension, technical understanding, and manual dexterity Prior experience with automation industrial machines is preferred Current and/or recent experience as a traveling field service engineer/service technician Ability to read and interpret drawings, diagrams, schematics, and machine specifications Excellent customer service skills, self-motivated, able to work independently and respond to emergency situations, well organized Must have a valid driver's license, current passport, and a clean motor vehicle record Must be up to date with an approved Covid-19 vaccine (Pfizer, Moderna, or J&J) Availability for substantial travel within North America and Switzerland Competencies:

Experience:
Associate Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Mechatronics Technology, Apprenticeship in Mechatronics or technical school certification in Mechanical, Electrical, or Mechatronics Technology or a similar field Minimum of three to five (3-5) years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and industry experience.
Home Office / Travel:
This position can be based out of our Branford, CT office or from your home anywhere on the east coast that is within a reasonable commute to a major airport.
This position requires up to 75% travel.
Travel includes outside the local area and overnight.

This is a full-time (non-exempt) position, Overtime is likely, must be willing and able to work some overtime regularly.
