Nema Health is a survivor and clinician led virtual center for PTSD & trauma care.
Our mission is to guide trauma survivors at every step of their journey towards healing, starting first with the remote, intensive delivery of cognitive processing therapy (CPT).
Nema is seeking a part time hire to manage the day-to-day billing and revenue cycle management (RCM) needs for our growing business.
This role is designed to start at 10 hours a week and has the option to grow as the business needs grow, with a possible full time role later in 2024, approximately.
The ideal candidate has extensive healthcare experience in the eligibility verification, RCM, billing, and payment practices.
This person will also act as a liaison between insurance companies, patients, and the Clinical Team to ensure accurate billing practices are executed with high quality.
The Billing and RCM Coordinator will report to the Practice Coordinator under the COO.

Primary
Responsibilities:
Insurance Verification:
Verify patient insurance coverage and eligibility prior to appointments, ensuring accurate billing informationPre Authorization Management:
Submit for pre authorizations when needed, maintain a record of who needs a pre authorization, submit renewals, and track tasksClaims Submission:
Prepare and submit insurance claims for services provided with accuracy to minimize delays in payment, while adhering to insurance regulations and guidelinesBilling Management:
Monitor billing processes to ensure accuracy and completeness, identifying and rectifying any discrepancies or errorsClaim Follow-Up:
Follow up on unpaid or denied claims, identifying reasons for denials and taking necessary steps to resolve issues.
Improve on our billing system to minimize future claim denials Payment Processing:
Process payments received from insurance companies and patients, accurately recording transactions and reconciling accountsCollecting:
Collect outstanding patient responsibilities following claim adjudication.
Issue past-due notices for accounts with outstanding balancesDocumentation and Reporting:
Maintain detailed records of billing activities, including claim submissions, payments, and denials.
Generate reports as needed to track billing performance including monthly revenue reporting Communication and Coordination:
Respond to inquiries from insurance companies, patients/families, and internal team members regarding billing and financial documentsRCM Support:
Provide support on Nema's launch with an RCM vendor including help on selecting a vendor, implementing RCM, and managing the RCM vendorCompliance:
Stay informed about changes in healthcare regulations and insurance policies to ensure compliance with billing proceduresQualificationsRequired 3
years previous experience in medical billing and administrative roles interfacing with payers for functions such as eligibility verification and RCMProficiency in billing software and electronic health records (EHR) systemsStrong understanding of insurance policies, procedures, and billing codesKnowledge of third party payer reimbursement systems, rules and regulations relating to accounts receivableExcellent attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and record-keepingSharp problem solving skills and ability to investigate and resolve discrepanciesPositive, solution oriented attitude and comfort with ambiguity as Nema builds billing processesEffective communication skills, both written and verbalComfort and familiarity working with spreadsheetsAbility to work independently and manage time efficiently in a remote work environmentHigh level of integrity and commitment to maintaining patient confidentialityPreferredTelehealth billing experience, ideally across multiple statesVBC or alternative payment model claims billing experienceSpecific experience with CMS 1500 claimsExperience as a clinic or ambulatory facility billing specialist Experience working in a remote environment Accounting experienceCoding/Billing Certificate from an accredited institute or school preferredTableau, PowerBI, and/or strong excel skills Previous experience working in a health tech startupPassion for mental health and expanding access to treatment through insurance Nema Health is a seed stage company backed by top healthcare VCs.
This is a part time, hourly role as a contractor (1099) with an hourly rate of $20-25/hour.
Exact rate will be determined based on the candidate's experience.
Expected commitment is 10 hours per week, with the option to grow with the company as the need grows.
Possibility of a full time position can be discussed with consideration of individual performance and business need.
This role is remote and the candidate can be located anywhere in the United States.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
